Interviews are often dreaded and at Mogoya Consulting we know that, so here are ten tips you can use to rock them!

1. Ask yourself the right questions before you even set foot in the interview room (Why are you applying? What do you really want? What do you expect from this job? Among other questions…).
2. LinkedIn and other search engines are your allies: do your research, your interviewer will have all your basic information and CV, it is only natural that you enquire about them as well.
3. You should also enquire about the company, their latest and upcoming projects if they are known. Read about their history, the ‘About Us’ section should do the trick. You might want to work for a company which values align with yours and vice versa. Knowing about their core values especially if they coincide with yours might also help you with your self-introduction, and if they don’t, well I suggest you go back to tip #1 and ask yourself the right questions…
4. Be ready for the often dreadful “Please introduce yourself…”: a solid self-introduction that puts forward your strengths and highlights your uniqueness can make the difference and even set you aside from the other applicants, our team at Mogoya Conseil can help you with that!
5. Prep your list of questions: remember an interview is a dialogue, it is about exchanging information. They will have plenty of questions for you to ensure that you are the right fit for their role, you should have as many questions as well to guide your decision.
6. Take a notepad and a pen:
- Yes, we do understand that you have an extraordinary memory and that you always remember everything, however with the stress and the adrenaline kicking in you might forget some key details.
- Taking notes will help you sort out your ideas and help you put the focus on the points that really matter to you.
7. Make sure to check your itinerary the night before so that you get to the premises at least 10 min early. Let’s not add to our list another reason to be stressed out.
8. Bring some water to the interview or accept the beverage if offered by your host. When confused of feeling stuck, take a sip, breathe, and get your head back in the game!
9. Relax and remember that the choice is mutual, you’re also there to make sure that they are the right fit for you.
10. You’ve got this! Believe in yourself, if you don’t, no one else will!
Ps: Be careful with your attire, even if the interview is on zoom: yes, you can work from home in your pajamas but no, it would not be a good idea to show up to your interview in a hoodie. No need to be overdressed either but in doubt, know that a white shirt or a blazer will never send the wrong message.
